What's it about?
Controversy continues over the coalition government’s proposals for the National Health Service. Market forces and accountability are at the heart of the dispute. When you go to the doctor will you notice a difference? When you call the council for social care services what will be on offer? Come to Swindon LINK’s open meeting on Wednesday 18 May to find out more about what may happen and to influence the way health and care services develop in Swindon. The Health and Social Care bill is going through parliament. The bill may change in detail but it’s a fair bet that that many of the structural changes proposed by the government will go through. So planning continues.
Key speakers include Cherry Jones, joint acting director of public health NHS Swindon and Lyn Hill-Tout, chief executive Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
Swindon LINk will be changing too: into a new organisation from April 2012 called Healthwatch Swindon – with more responsibility and, amongst other things, a place by right on the health and well-being board. We need you to help us shape some of the change.
The meeting will be a chance to update on what’s happening – and to discuss what a successful consumer champion, the new Healthwatch Swindon organisation, could look like. Please join us. Please complete and return the reply slip by Thursday 12 May (by post to the freepost address on the reply slip or by email to enquiries@swindonlink.org). After that date please call 497777 or contact us to see if places are still available.
