What's it about?
Tuesday 13 July is the date for the second annual conference organised through Swindon Local Involvement Network. It’s all about living well at the end of life, it’s being organised in association with NHS Swindon and Prospect Hospice – and you’re invited.
10am to 3pm at the Jurys Inn, Fleming Way, Swindon
Presentations, round table discussions, displays and information
There’s a good reason to talk about death and dying. It’s not easy but it does happen to all of us; and the sooner we talk to people we care about or those who care about us, the more likely it is that our wishes will be respected. 2119 people died in Swindon last year. Just over half died in hospital and yet, given half a chance, many of those who spent their last days there might have preferred to be cared for in the comfort of home with all the support that could have been available. Experiences vary; no two are the same so the challenge for health and care services is to know what people would prefer as they reach the last months or weeks – and then try to ensure those wishes are respected.
